March 2017 – Amplifier and DSP specialist Linea Research has announced the introduction of their new control and monitoring software, System Engineer. A major update to Linea Research’s existing PodWare, System Engineer is more than just a simple rebranding. With over a dozen new features, a doubling of communication speed, and additional new product support, System Engineer is a significant leap forward.
System Engineer’s powerful yet intuitive interface provides computer control over Linea Research’s range of networked DSP amplifiers and System Controllers. The connected system can be displayed in either device or loudspeaker centric views with powerful Drive Module grouping offering up-to 12 independent overlays of Mute, Gain, Delay and EQ. Robust two-way real time control allows parameters to be adjusted both in software and on the device front panel while staying perfectly in sync.
In addition to new features System Engineer also introduces support for Linea Research’s new 88C Series of eight channel DSP amplifiers aimed at the installed sound market. This new range comprises three models offering 8x400W, 8x750W and 8x1250W power ratings, all with Ethernet control, onboard 96kHz DSP and optional Dante audio networking.
“Just about everything we make is network controlled so it’s critical that we do this right,” explains Paul Williams, Linea Research’s R&D director. “With our business growing very rapidly we’ve been able to invest not just in software development but crucially in software testing and QA, speeding up our development cycle and producing a better overall product. Users already loved the ease of use and simplicity of control in PodWare; these new enhancements in System Engineer take this up a notch and provide us with an excellent platform to develop into the future.”
